On October 17, 2014 at De La Salle University – Manila, an international symposium with the theme; One Year after Yolanda: Findings and Discussions for the Future will take place under the sponsorship of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Ministry of Education Japan (MEXT) , and Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) with the participating researchers from De La Salle University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Waseda University, Toyo University, and The University of Tokyo.
Purpose
of the Symposium and Workshop
The
symposium is intended to disseminate the research findings and results of the
survey conducted on December 5-11, 2013 and May 2-5, 2014 in Leyte, Samar and
Cebu on the storm surge and the social dimension of the coastal disaster due to
Typhoon Haiyan. It will also convene different stakeholders from the
government, private, non-governmental organizations and academia engaged in
coastal disaster risk reduction, planning and management.
