ICEE2021 Best Paper in Engg Education (CE Category) for DLSU CE Faculty

Congratulations to Engr. Daniel Nichol Valerio, Engr. Kenneth Elevado, Engr. Kenneth Roi Toral and Dr. Andres Winston Oreta! Their paper "Introducing Experimental Structural Mechanics in Theory of Structures Laboratory Course at De La Salle University" was awarded BEST PAPER in Engineering Education (Civil Engineering Category) in the Conference on Engineering Education 2021 (ICEE-Phil 2021) held on Dec 3-4, 2021 and hosted by the Philippine Association of Engineering Schools (PAES).

Eng. Valerio presented the paper on 4 Dec 2021 in the ICEE-Phil 2021 virtual conference. The paper on "Introducing Experimental Structural Mechanics in Theory of Structures Laboratory Course at De La Salle University" is described below:

Abstract: The present pandemic has challenged civil engineering educators to innovate on how to deliver laboratory courses in an online platform. On-site experiments cannot be conducted and thus more time will be available for student-centered learning. Hence, the Theory of Structures Laboratory course was revised and a new component on Experimental Structural Mechanics was added to the syllabus. This paper presents a summary of the revised syllabus focusing on the learning outcomes, online teaching and learning activities and student feedback specifically on the new topic on Experimental Structural Mechanics.
