DLSU-CE Faculty and students attended the 2015 PICE National Midyear Convention held at SMX Davao Convention Center, Davao City last May 28 – 30, 2015. Hosted by Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) Davao City Chapter, the theme of the Convention is “Filipino Civil Engineers: Ready for Global Practice”. The Convention program features the technical paper presentations of the institute’s specialty divisions namely: Project Management and Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Engineering, and Environmental and Energy Engineering. The program also includes the National Civil Engineering Students’ Summit participated by civil engineering students from various universities.
Under the Structural Engineering
division, CE faculty, Dr. Mary Ann Q. Adajar presented her paper co-authored
with E. de Guzman, R. Ho, C. Palma, III, and D. Sindico on “Structural Performance of Concrete with
Waste from Aggregate Quarry as Substitute for Fine Aggregates”. Also, CE faculty, Engr. Richard M. de Jesus
presented his paper co-authored with Dr. L. Garciano, J. Sanchez, S. Harder, N.
de ocampo, Jr. and A. Teruel on “Reliability
Analysis of Deteriorated RC Beams Subjected to Carbonation using Particle
Filter. On the other hand, Dr. Danilo C. Terante, CE
faculty and co-chairman of PICE Water Engineering Specialty Division, presented
his paper co-authored with E. Arce, K. Mosquera, R. Rivera, and G. Uy on “Application of Fuzzy Logic to a Zonal
Hydrological Water Resource Allocation System in Malate, Manila” under the
Water Engineering division. He also
delivered a talk on “How to Make a
Research Proposal” during the students’ summit.
