2nd ERDT Congress highlights researches of scholars

The ERDT BS-MS (Civil Engineering) Scholars from DLSU
Six Civil Engineering Graduate students (one MSCE and five BSMS students)  presented their respective researches as posters at the 2nd Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT) Congress at the Philippine International Convention Center last Friday, June 14. The congress had the theme of “K2M: Knowledge to Market (Engineering to Enterprise)”, included a series of plenary talks by experts on innovation, renowned professors, and ERDT scholars who have successfully established their own businesses. The congress aims to provide discussions in order to produce and commercialize innovative ideas.

The poster competition was participated by ERDT scholars from a consortium of eight universities, namely: University of the Philippines – Diliman, Ateneo de Manila University, Central Luzon State University, Mapua Institute of Technology, Mindanao State University – Iligan State of Technology, University of the Philippines – Los Banos, University of San Carlos, and De La Salle University. There are five categories for the poster competition: (1) Energy Track; (2) Information, Communications and Technology Track; (3) Semiconductor Materials and Electronics Track; (4) Manufacturing and Machinery Track, and; (5) Environment Track. Five (5) BS/MS students and one (1) MS student participated the said competition. The researches of DLSU ERDT scholars fell under the Environment Track and are listed below:

  • “Application of Response Surface Methodology: Optimum Mix Design of Concrete with Slag as Coarse Aggregate” (Regulacion, Rhea E. and Oreta, Andres Winston C. - Adviser)
  • “Choice Analysis of Tourist Spots: The Case of Guimaras Provice” (Ganzon, Maria Katrina M. and Fillone, Alexis M.-Adviser)
  • “Improved Transport Terminal Utilization: The Case of Jordan Wharf, Guimaras” (Abad, Raymund Paolo B. and Fillone, Alexis M.-Adviser)
  •  “Investigation on the Influence of Coal Ash Replacement and Seawater Mixing and Curing on the Strength of Bamboo – Reinforced Concrete” (Bidol, Paul Bryan P. and Gallardo, Ronaldo S.-Adviser)
  •  “Mode Choice Analysis of Inter-Island Passenger Travel from Iloilo to Negros Occidental, Philippines” (Roquel, Krister Ian Daniel Z. and Fillone, Alexis M.-Adviser)
  •  “Strength and Compressibility of Coal Ash as Embankment Material for Land Reclamation” (Abranilla, Dane Rei B. and Dungca, Jonathan R.-Adviser)
The ERDT is a highly funded development project by the Philippine government through the Department of Science and Technology.
