AUN/SEED-Net Scholars from Chula return to DLSU

Uy, Valerio and Jayme: AUN/SEED-Net Scholars and Alumni

The three civil engineering alumni (BSCE 2011) who were accepted as graduate scholars under the AUN/SEED-Net program in 2012 at Chulalongkorn University(CU) completed their Master of Engineering Degrees in 2014. Daniel Valerio, Jamiel Jayme and Erica Uy will join the Civil Engineering Department as part-time faculty members this Academic Year 2014-2015. Valerio and Uy will reinforce the Structural/Geotechnical Engineering Division while Jayme will be a driving force in the Transportation Engineering Division. Welcome back, alumni!

New Part-Time CE (STE-GTE) Faculty - Benjie & Erica

Engr. Benjie Dimaculangan is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of the Philippines in Diliman. He also finished Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering at the De La Salle University, where he completed his work on “Rotational Stiffness of Column Base of Steel Pipe Rack Structures”. He has more than 15 years of professional experience, mostly in the oil and gas industry, and has rotated into various functions in structural engineering, project controls, estimating, business development and project engineering management. Previously a faculty member of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, he is currently returning to the academe to pursue his interest in people development.

Engr. Erica Elice S. Uy graduated from De La Salle University in 2011 with a degree on Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering. Through the AUN/SEED-Net scholarship, she was able to pursue her Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.  She is interested in soil testing, constitutive modelling and creating prototypes that apply image processing as a tool for non-contact measurement.

 

New Part-Time STE CE Faculty - Arlene & Daniel

Engr. Arlene dela Cruz is a structural engineer at Ventech International Services Philippines, Inc. She graduated from Mapua Institute of Technology in 2003 with BS Civil Engineering degree. While working, she later pursued her graduate study at University of the Philippines, Diliman where she graduated in 2010 with degree of MS Civil Engineering major in Structural Engineering. She has been in the mining, oil and gas industry for both offshore and onshore the past nine years. Her experiences include leading a team of structural engineers and drafters, mentors junior engineers, checking of steel and concrete calculations and reviewing structural drawings. Arlene has travelled and worked across different countries such as Chile, South Korea, Australia and Philippines. She is a professional member of Engineers Australia. 

Engr. Daniel Nichol R. Valerio is a graduate of BSCE-STE from De La Salle University – Manila in 2011. He was an AUN/SEED-net scholar at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand where he graduated Masters of Engineering Degree in 2014. He specializes in Structural Engineering in both universities and focuses on topics related to steel fiber and concrete composites.
