COE Faculty & CTM Students survey housing site at Bagac

CE faculty, Engr. Ronaldo Gallardo and Dr. Andres Oreta and CIV-CTM students, Federico Manalo, Vitto Manalo, Christine Ocampo and Mariella Trespesses together with Engr. Ric Unas (COE SERVECom coordinator) and COSCA conducted a site visit and meeting at the La Salle School, the Jaime Hilario Integrated School in Bagac, Bataan. The visit was aimed to meet the residents of the community who will be relocated to a new site beside the school. COSCA asked the assistance of the CE Department for the relocation project. Based on the survey and meeting, one story duplex type low cost houses will be designed and constructed for about 20 famiies by DLSU and its generous partners. Since there is a possibility that the houses will be extended by the families to two floors, the houses will be designed as two-storey houses. But because of limited funds, only one story houses will be built. Student and faculty volunteers will assist in the construction similar to the Gawad Kalinga project. Donations (cash or kind like construction materials, toilet accessories, etc) will be needed to complete the project. The target date for this project to commence is April 2009. Calling on our alumni, students and faculty - we need your support! We accept any kind of contribution - volunteer work, cash, technical support, etc.
