Dr. Adajar recognized as the 2016 Pillar of Lasallian Excellence Award in Teaching


Dr. Mary Ann Adajar, Associate Professor in Civil Engineering was recognized as the "St. Benilde Romancon Pillar of Lasallian Excellence Award in Teaching" during the Pillar of Lasallian Excellence Awards 2016 held last Sept 30, 2016. The St. Benilde Romancon Pillar of Lasallian Excellence Award Excellence in Teaching is based on evidenced by any or all of the following: ITEO/peer/chair evaluation, comments and feedback from students, colleagues and alumni, support of student-sponsored activities, effective mentoring, new programs or modules developed, teaching innovations including use of technology in the classroom.

Dr. Adajar has served DLSU as faculty member since year 2001. Her field of specialization is in Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering. She was a graduate of BSCE (Magna Cum Laude) at the Central Philippine University, Iloilo. She  completed the degree of Master of Science in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering from De La Salle University, Manila and the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering major in Geotechnical Engineering from University of the Philippines, Diliman Quezon City. In addition to her experience in the academe, she has more than fourteen (14) years of professional experience in the field of structural design, construction management and supervision gained from reputable consulting companies and from private practice.

Dr. Adajar is the third  Pillar of Lasallian Excellence Awardee in Teaching from the Department of Civil Engineering. The first awardee was Ms. Yen Ubay (2013) and the second awardee was Dr. Andy Oreta (2014).

Yen Ubay-Anongphouth: St. Benilde Romancon Pillar of Excellence Awardee in Teaching 2013


Civil Engineering Asst. Professor Irene Olivia Ubay-Anongphouth aka "YEN" was recognized and presented  the "St. Benilde Romancon Pillar of Excellence Award in Teaching" last October 1, 2013 during the celebration of World Teacher's Day at De La Salle University, Manila. The St. Benilde Romancon Pillar of Lasallian Excellence Award Excellence in Teaching is based on evidenced by any or all of the following: ITEO/peer/chair evaluation, comments and feedback from students, colleagues and alumni, support of student-sponsored activities, effective mentoring, new programs or modules developed, teaching innovations including use of technology in the classroom.

Teacher Yen handles courses on construction materials, engineering mechanics, soil mechanics and structural anlaysis. She graduated BSCE (STE) at DLSU and M.Eng. at Chulalongkorn University.

Dungca: Gawad Lasalyano 2012 Awardee!


Dr. Jonathan R. Dungca of the Civil Engineering Department will be one of the recipients of the Outstanding Lasallian Mission Partner for Gawad Lasalyano 2012. The awarding ceremony will be held on August 10, 2012, 5pm at the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium.

"Gawad Br. Cecilio Hojilla FSC recognizes faculty, staff, parents, alumni and external partners who contribute to the propagation of the Lasallian values of faith, zeal for service, and communion in mission by volunteering their time, talent and treasure as a formator.” Such honour is among many prestigious awards given to recognize achievers promoting excellence in various fields such as leadership, community engagement, discipline formation, faith formation , sports, campus media, culture and arts, and military service."

Dr. Dungca is an associate professor in civil engineering. He has been an awardee in the Students Search for Outstanding Teachers (SSOT) in several years and was recognized as an outstanding student organization adviser of the Civil Engineering Society (CES).

Congratulations, Dr. Dungca! May you continue to be an inspiration and may the spirit of St. John Baptist De La Salle, and our Lord Jesus Christ continue to live in your heart.

Ms. Irene Ubay: SSOT 2012 Outstanding Teacher!

The CE Department congratulates Engr. Irene "Yen" Ubay for being awarded as outstanding teacher in the recent Students' Search for Outstanding Teachers (SSOT) 2012. Engr. Ubay was selected as one of the seven finalists and the winner was announced during the awarding ceremony last March 30, 2012.  Engr. Ubay is a BSCE DLSU alumnus who graduated MSCE at Chulalongkorn University. She teaches Civil Engineering Materials, Theory of Structures and Mechanics courses. 

 The SSOT is one of the highlights of the Lasallian Excellence Awards, an annual project of the DLSU Council of Student Organizations. Initiated and implemented by the students, the SSOT honors Lasallian teachers who embody the values, ideas, and traditions pursued by St. John Baptist de La Salle.

The SSOT awardee in 2011 was Dr. Jonathan Dungca of the CE Dept. We wish all the finalists the best. Animo Lasalle!

Dungca is SSOT 2011!


Dr. Jonathan R. Dungca Associate Professor in Civil Engineering was awarded the Students' Search for Outstandning Teachers (SSOT) for the 2011. Dr. Dungca teaches engineering mechainics and geotechnical engineering courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs. This is the second SSOT award of Dr. Dungca. Incidentally, Dr. Andres Oreta was a finalist of the SSOT 2011.

STE Faculty - Finalists in the Students Search for Outstanding Teachers (SSOT SY2010-2011)





Structural Engineering faculty members of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Andres Oreta, Dr. Bernardo Lejano and Dr. Jonathan Dungca were selected finalists in Phase 2 of the Students Search for Outstanding Teachers (SSOT) for the School Year 2010-2011. In Phase 2, the faculty member's "work ethics as an outstanding teacher from the perspectives of students, fellow teachers and senior professors..." will be evaluated.
The SSOT is a project of the DLSU Council of Student Organizations under the Lasallian Excellence Awards.

The Lasallian Excellence Awards 2009 - 2 out of 4!

CE Department professor, Dr. Andy Oreta and associate professor, Dr. Jonathan Dungca were among the four winners (2 from COE, 1 from CBE and 1 from CCS) in the Lasallian Excellence Awards 2009 for Outstanding Teachers. The winners were announced during the awarding ceremonies last March 28, 2009. The awards include a trophy, medal and gift certificates from Starbucks and Sun Cruises, Inc. Dr. Oreta teaches Mechanics, Computer Methods and Structural Engineering related subjects. He has been teaching at DLSU for 15 years. Dr. Dungca, on the otherhand, teaches Mathematics, Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering related subjects.
Incidentally, associate professor, Dr. Bernardo Lejano and assistant professor and department chair, Ronaldo Gallardo were also finalists in the Students' Search for Outstanding Teachers (SSOT 2009). The criteria for the selection of finalists includes students and peer evaluation on teaching, track record in research, participation in university and college activities and community service involvement. The SSOT is a project of the Council of Student Organizations.
