CE Dept graduates 1st Summa Cum Laude.

During the 4 Oct. 2008 graduation ceremony at the PICC, the Department of Civil Engineering had seven graduates with honors led by Alvin Christopher Varquez, the 1st Summa Cum Laude in BSCE since the program was revived at DLSU-Manila in 1987. Alvin Varquez also received the Jose Rizal Honors Society and Student Leadership awards. He was the president of the Civil Engineering Society during the SY2007-2008. The other honor graduates were Winston Chua (Magna Cum Laude), Allen Christian Varquez (Cum Laude) and Honorable Mentions - Michael Paolo Bellosillo, Chua Man Wai, Manuel Chito Borja, Maria Celina Suarez. The Hydraulics and Water Resources (HWR) division had the most number of honor graduates - Alvin Varquez, Chito Borja and Winston Chua, followed by the Structural Engineering (STE) Division - Bellosilo and Suarez. CTM (Chua Man Wai) and TRE (Allen Varquez) Divisions had one each. Meanwhile, Winston Chua and Andrew Tan-Afuan received the award for Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis in Civil Engineering.
