DLSU CE Faculty joins EnHERIT 2021



The International Conference on Engineering Heritage and Existing Structures (EnHerit 2021) offers some of the world's most accomplished practitioners in heritage. The Day 1 of the EnHERIT 2021 Conference was concluded last August 07, 2021 (Saturday), while Day 2 will be on August 14, 2021 (Saturday).

The first Enherit was organized in 2019, hosted by DLSU GCOE Department of Civil Engineering in collaboration with San Sebastian Basilica Conservation and Development Foundation.

This year's EnHERIT is jointly organized by Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. - ASEP, BAKAS PILIPINAS | Philippine Historic Preservation Society, De La Salle University and International Council on Monuments and Sites - Icomos Philippines.

Many of the DLSU CE Department Faculty Members were involved in the conference, they took part and will be part of the EnHERIT 2021 Program.

DLSU CE faculty members will serve as resource speakers in the  7th Sustainable Proactive Advocacies in Civil Engineering (SPACE2021) Conference on August 19-20, 2021 via Zoom Apps. SPACE2021 is  hosted by the PICE - Makati Chapter and the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (ASEP). The DLSU faculty presenters are:

DLSU Faculty and Alumnus as resource speakers at Mapua Tech Students' Webinar

 CE Dept. faculty, Dr. Jason Ongpeng and Dr. Andres Oreta and DLSU BSCE alumnus, Engr. Carla Maria Gonzalez, Assistant Project Manager in Arcadis Manila Global Excellence Center, were invited as resource speakers at the webinar hosted by the  Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers - Mapua University Student Chapter (PICE-MUSC). The webinar entitled, “Engineering AdvanCEment: Heading towards Sustainable Development in Construction,” will be held on June 27, 2021 (Sunday) via Facebook Live.. The event is part of the  monthly celebration of the School of Civil, Environmental, and Geological Engineering with a theme, “Environmental Sustainability in Engineering.” 

Dr. Onpeng will present about "Construction Materials and Testing, while Engr. Gonzalez with her undergraduate thesis adviser, Dr. Oreta will present on "Quantifying the Environmental Impacts of Structural Elements of Standard Bridge Designs."

Oreta as virtual resource speaker at Bataan Peninsula State University

 The Civil Engineering Department of the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) has been hosting a series of webinars entitled "Bridge to Success" through the initiative of its department head, Gil Cruz (a PhD DLSU student). 

Dr. Andres Winston Oreta was invited as resource speaker for its June 5, 2021 webinar on the topic, "Disaster Risk Reduction and Infrastructure Resilience." Oreta will present the key concepts on DRR and Infrastructure Resilience using the 4 R's of Resilience (Bruneau, MCEER) and he will share his survey on retrofitting strategies in Japan during his AUN/SEED-Net visiting researcher trip in 2015. Seismic retrofitting is one strategy for increasing the resilience of structures to earthquakes.

DLSU CE Faculty and Graduate School Alumni present papers at AIC2021

The Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (ASEP) hosted its 20th ASEP International Convention (AIC 2021) with the theme “ STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING: GETTING SMARTER TO NEW AND FUTURE CHALLENGES” ON May 20-22, 2021 via Zoom Cloud Application. The guest speaker was Engr. Edgar Saavedra, BSCE alumnus and now CEO/President of Megawide Construction Corp. 

DLSU Faculty ad MSCE, Master of Engineering and PhD graduates presented papers in the Technical Sessions of the convention. Summarized below are the paper presentors:
