The International Symposium on “Adaptation Measures for Transport Systems to Urban Flooding: The Case Study of Asian Cities” was successfully held last 17 February 2024 in Surugadai Campus, College of Science and Technology, Nihon University, Tokyo, Japan. More than a hundred participants from all over the world joined the symposium, both face-to-face and online.
This research is part of the International Research Group (IRG–38) under the Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS). This research project aims to understand the impacts of flooding on transportation in cities in Asia and provide appropriate adaptation measures applicable to the transport field. The appropriate adaptation measures are then evaluated from an economic point of view.
The main proponents of this research group who were also present during the symposium are as follows:
• Prof. Dr. Alexis M. Fillone, Department of Civil Engineering, De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines (Group Representative)
• Prof. Dr. Atsushi Fukuda, Transportation Systems Engineering, Nihon University, Chiba, Japan
