Prof. Dr. Mary Ann Adajar was conferred as SPECIALIST in CIVIL ENGINEERING EDUCATION by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), Board of Directors during the 47th PICE National Convention on November 26, 2021.

Dr. Mary Ann Q. Adajar is a Professor and the Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering, De La Salle University, Manila. She has completed her BS in Civil Engineering (Magna Cum Laude) from Central Philippine University, Iloilo City, her Master of Science in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering from De La Salle University, Manila, and the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering major in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Question City.  A registered Civil Engineer, she was conferred the title of Specialist in Geotechnical Engineering in year 2008,  Specialist in Structural Engineering in year 2009, and Specialist in Civil Engineering Education in year 2021 by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE).  She joined the academe as faculty member of De La Salle University since 2001 and was a recipient of St. Benilde Romancon Pillar of Lasallian Educators Excellence Award for Teaching.  Prior to joining the academe, she has more than fourteen (14) years of professional experience in the field of structural design and construction management gained from reputable consulting companies and from private practice.

Currently serving as Board of Director of Philippine Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (PSSMGE), as Vice Chair of the PICE Specialty Division for Civil Engineering Education, as Subject Editor of the International Journal of Geotechnique, Construction Materials, and Environment (GEOMATE), and as Editorial Adviser of Geotechnical Engineering Journal of SEAGS and AGSSEA.

Her research interests are on soil stabilization; geotechnical characterization of geo-materials, expansive soils, and mine tailings; numerical modeling of soil behavior; and alternative construction materials.  Some of her research works presented in international conferences that won the Best Paper Award are:  “Soil-Structure Interface Behavior of Cemented-Paste Backfill Material Mixed with Mining Waste,” “Recycled Gypsum and Rice Husk Ash as Additives in the Stabilization of Expansive Soil,” and “Strength and Permeability Characteristics of Expansive Soil with Gypsum and Rice Husk Ash used for Roadway Construction”.  She has published several journal papers in ISI and Scopus listed international journals.
