Last September 9 – 12, 2019, members of
the Transportation Engineering (TRE) Division of DLSU Civil Engineering
Department participated at the 13th International Conference of Eastern Asia
Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) held at Colombo, Sri Lanka. The
conference was attended by Dr. Alexis Fillone, Engr. Paolo Ian Lucero, Engr.
Raymund Paolo Abad, Engr. Riches Bacero, Engr. Sherwin Roy Calumba, Mr. Monorom
Rith, and Mr. Teddy Carl Omilig.
The main theme of the conference was
"Redesigning Transport & Logistics for the rise of Asia" and it
was jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Society of Transport and Logistics
(SLSTL). EASTS 2019 had more than 500 participants from about 30 countries.
EASTS started in November 1994 with 13 countries/regions from Eastern Asia.
Currently, it is now being participated by 19 domestic societies with
Transportation Science Society of the Philippines (TSSP) as the corresponding
local organization in the country. The biennial conference mainly aims to
"foster and support excellence in transportation research and
practice" of professionals especially in Asia.
The following papers were presented at
EASTS 2019.
The next conference (EASTS 2021) will be
held in Hiroshima, Japan.
