Garciano & Oreta join experts on consultations on Philippine Heritage Charter

ICOMOS Philippines is currently working for the formulation of the draft of the Philippine Heritage Charter. The project is funded by TIEZA, or the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, through NCCA, or the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.The project, entitled “Towards a Philippine Heritage Charter,” gathers local experts who will work together in redefining Philippine Heritage that is more comprehensible to the Filipino so as to further understand Philippine Heritage sensibilities, priorities, and therefore implementation of a Philippine Heritage Charter.

Dr. Lessandro Garciano (Assoc, Professor and CE Dept. chair) and Dr. Andres Oreta (CE Professor) were invited as expert participants in the two-day Levelling Off Consultations on Thursday, September 8 - Friday September 9, 2016, 9:00am - 5:00pm at the Silid Darangen of the NCCA Building, 633 General Luna St., Intramuros, Manila. The consultation meeting will be attended by heritage experts and advocates from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and NCR as a grounding workshop on clarifying definitions, purposes, and values of conservation.

The facilitators and resource persons of the meeting  include: Arch. Dominic Galicia (ICOMOS Phils. President), Arch. Augusto Villalon, Dr. Fernando Zialcita, Arch. Emilio Ozaeta and Manuel Agustin Singson.

I hope you do get experts from the archaeological community to enhance our concept on heritage. We have vibrant scholars from UP-ASP and the National Museum who are also engaged in heritage advocacy and management as well.
