Istanbul, Turkey – The Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering (HWR) research team from the Department of Civil Engineering at De La Salle University, Manila attended 4th International Water Association Regional Conference on Diffuse Pollution & Eutrophication (IWA DIPCON 2022) held at Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Congress and Culture Center, Istanbul, Turkey, from October 24 to 28, 2022.
The research team comprised of four delegates led by the HWR Division Head, Dr. Marla Maniquiz-Redillas, presented their research in the on-site sessions on reservoir and surface water management, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and nature-based solutions and implementations. One delegate from the team received the Best Student Oral Presentation award.
Participants and oral presentation titles:
Engr. Gil Cruz, PhD student – “Investigating diffuse pollution dynamics in an urban catchment area using first flush analysis”
Engr. Sergi Garbanzos, MS student – “Comparing the Outflow Reduction of LID Controls under a Centralized And Decentralized Scheme using SWMM” and “Determining the Optimal LID Combination through Hydrological Performance Modeling and Cost-Effectiveness Analysis” (Best Student Oral Presentation)
Engr. Denzel Keith Urieta, MS student – “Modifying the RUSLE Factors to develop site-specific land management practices against Rainfall-Induced Erosion”
Participants and poster presentation titles:
Engr. Sergi Garbanzos, MS student – “Investigating the Efficiency of Infiltration Trenches for Stormwater Peak Flow and Outflow Reduction Using SWMM” and “Designing the Sizing Criteria for Free Water Surface Flow Constructed Wetland based on River Flow Interpolation
