DLSU Civil Engineering Faculty and Researchers Published in Elsevier's International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction

Congratulations to the esteemed faculty members and researchers for their significant achievement of publishing their research study titled "Development of socially sustainable transitional shelter design in the Philippines" in the prestigious Elsevier journal, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction.

The research team, composed of faculty members Engr. Cheryl Lyne C. Roxas, Dr. Jonathan R. Dungca, Dr. Bernardo A. Lejano, and Dr. Jason Maximino C. Ongpeng, collaborated with research assistants Engr. Rhem Leoric C. Dela Cruz, Engr. John Paul Q. De Pedro, and  Arch. Breman M. Tamani.

The study identified the hexagonal transitional shelter (HTS) as the most socially sustainable design, based on parameters such as construction time, thermal comfort, and lighting. Researchers emphasized that while the findings highlight the HTS's potential, further studies are needed to validate its applicability in diverse disaster scenarios.
