CE Faculty as resource speakers at 16th PICE Region III Technical Conference



The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers Region III Technical Conference was held on April 13-14, 2018 at Subic Bay Peninsular Hotel, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales with the theme, "Central Luzon Civil Engineers Building a Better Future Today."

DLSU CE Faculty members led by Dr. Lessandro Garciano (CE Dept. chair) with Prof. Andres Winston Oreta, Prof. Alexis Fillone and Assoc. Prof. Marla Redillas were invited to be resource speakers in the two day event. The lectures presented by the CE faculty were:
  • A proposed framework for resilience for water lifeline systems under seismic hazard - Dr. Lessandro Estelito Garciano 
  • Making cities resilient to disasters - Dr. Andres Winston Oreta
  • Low impact development: key to environmental sustainability - Dr. Marla Redillas
  • Urban transportation planning - Dr. Alexis Fillone
  • Seismic assessment & retrofitting: overview and learning lessons from Japan - Dr. Andres Winston Oreta

Incidentally, Dr. Romeo Estanero (retired DLSU CE faculty and presently the chair of the CE Professional Regulatory Board) presented a lecture on "R.A. 10912 (CPD Law) and Operating Guidelines." Also DLSU CE Dept. industry adviser, Engr. Carlos Villaraza presented his lecture on "Seismic retrofitting in accordance with the NSCP 2015."

The PICE Region III Technical Conference was coordinated by DLSU CE alumnus '97, Engr. Mico David (PICE regional coordinator for Region III).
