DLSU CE faculty, graduate students and alumni will present
technical papers in the ASEP Convention on Concrete Engineering, Practice and
Technology (A.CONCEPT 2016) to be held on May 19-21, 2016 at the Century Park
Hotel, Manila. The convention is organized by the Association of Structural
Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (ASEP).
Professor in Civil Engineering, Dr. Andres Oreta will
present his report on “Survey of Retrofit
Methods of RC Buildings in Japan” on May 20, 2016.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bernardo Lejano co-authored two papers with DLSU MSCE and PhD students. Engr. Jayvee Gagan (MSCE Student) will present also on May
20, the paper on “Evaluation of the
Effects of Combining Pig-Hair Fiber as Fiber Reinforcement and Green Mussel
Shells as Partial Cement Substitute to the Properties of Concrete.” Engr. Gilford Estores (PhD Student) will present a paper on "Pull-out Strength of an Expansion Stud Anchor in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Concrete."
The research group of Engr. Jason Ongpeng with collaborators, Dr. Oreta and
Tokyo Institute of Technology professor, Dr. Sohichi Hirose will also present
papers on non-destructive testing of concrete on May 20. The following papers with
the student researchers indicated below will be presented:
·
Air-coupled
Ultrasonic Test in Reinforced Concrete Beams – Raphael Lee, J. Ongpeng, A.
Oreta, S. Hirose
·
Artificial
Neural Network Modeling in Predicting Stress Level using Nonlinear Ultrasonic
Test in Concrete – Marcus Karyl Soberano, J. Ongpeng, A. Oreta, S. Hirose
On
May 21, 2016, BSMS graduate, Engr. Adrian Dy will present his research co-authored
with Dr. Oreta on “Seismic
Vulnerability Assessment of Mass Irregular RC Buildings using Pushover Analysis.”
HI Doc Andy! I'm also an alumnus of DLSU, and technically, a graduate student, too. :D
