The symposium was composed of three parts. The first part consisted of a series of speakers and the awarding of poster making and essay writing contest in the high school division. These creative outputs were also displayed outside the conference room and were to be viewed by the participants of the conference. The theme of the posters and essays is in line with the ASEAN integration and the role of transportation in making this significant change happen. The posters showed the different countries that are part of the integration and all the modes of transportation that are available in these places. After the awarding of the poster making and essay writing competition and the series of discussion by the speakers, the symposium proceeded to the second part of the event – the young research forum.
The young research forum was composed of about 60 presenters that were divided to 3 session rooms. These presenters underwent research review prior to attending the symposium. Only qualified papers were allowed to present in the forum. The first stage of the qualification process is the submission of abstracts. Once the abstracts were submitted, a response from ATRANS was received. Following the notice of abstract acceptance is the research paper submission that will also undergo peer review. An email of paper acceptance was then to be received upon ATRANS approval of the submitted paper. On the day of the conference, presenters from different ASEAN countries took part on the forum. Watching the presentation of each presenter enabled the audience to get a glimpse of the transportation system present in their respective countries.
